Description

Terramars main asset as a course is that it is pleasant to play. It is not excessively difficult, nor is it extremely long or too short. Most of the holes are level –the exceptions are holes 5 to 8- and their situation on the first nine, together with the fact that the slopes are not steep, means that no strenuous exercise is necessary and the course is not tiring. Besides Sitges microclimate makes play possible in sunny conditions and good weather 300 days per year. As a result of the coastal location of the course, sea breezes are common, but they are very seldom intense and, in the height of summer, they help bear the heat. Not many out of bounds come into normal play, but the fairways are lined with trees in the rough that can hamper shots if a ball goes off line. A lagoon on the third hole and four small artificial lakes on the second nine come decidedly into play. One difference from most golf courses -where the par threes can be considered recovery holes- is that in Terramar these are relatively long and complicated and a bad tee shot can be very costly. By contrast, the par fives –with the exception of the 16th hole- are neither especially long nor difficult and therefore provide birdie opportunities.
